SPC nabs 'Celeste & Jesse'
The new sony Pictures Classics has acquired all privileges for The United States, South America and Eastern Europe to Lee Toland Krieger's "Celeste and Jesse Forever." Rashida Johnson and Andy Samberg star within the film as senior high school sweethearts who get divorced and try to remain close friends while going after other associations. Johnson authored the script with Will McCormack, who co-stars together with Chris Messina, Ari Graynor, Emma Roberts and Elijah Wood. Team Todd principals Jennifer Todd and Suzanne Todd created the pic with Lee Nelson of Picture Media Arts, which funded the film. The offer was discussed by UTA's Independent Film Group. "No recent movie is much more current, more intelligent or even more fun than 'Celeste and Jesse Forever,'" The new sony Classics stated inside a statement. "Lee Toland Krieger makes a significant film. The cast is superlative which is an apparent labor of affection for Rashida Johnson and can McCormack." Inside a joint statement, the producers stated: "We're thrilled our film finds a house with The new sony Pictures Classics and therefore are incredibly excited to utilize Michael (Barker), Tom (Bernard) and Dylan (Leiner). Their history is unequalled." Contact Shaun Sneider at shaun.sneider@variety.com
