Did the Aliens use Russian Water Tentacles?

Near the end of the movie, The Abyss, as the alien city was coming to
the surface, how did the aliens move the Deep Core under sea drilling
rig onto the city.
Did they use Russian Water Tentacles to do the move?

I read the book, years ago and do not remember it mentioned.
